The ride is beautiful and it is always an adventure coming to Maine! If
you live in state you know how beautiful the Western Mountains are especially
before black fly season! If you watch carefully you might see a moose or a
deer or fox crossing your path. If you don't we will try to make sure you
see at least one moose before you leave!
A Little History:
Of course those Philadelphia lawyers turned sports that made the area famous
with their fishing over 100 years ago used to take trains, then horse and wagon crossing over the now Appalachian Trail and finally a steamer over
Rangeley Lake to the beautiful hamlet high in the mountains of Western Maine
making the trip over three days long. Their wives came also at least as
far
as the large Rangeley hotel and lodges located on the edge of the lake...
bringing with them fine china and crystal, white linen table cloths and
delicious canned delicacies for the summer stay. Today planes make the trip a
lot shorter...however, we could arrange the latter if a person was
adventurous!
In case you have not picked up on it yet Maine humor is rather dry and always
in abundance!
